Police in Mashonaland East Province have launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old Murehwa man who allegedly murdered his sister after finding her with a boyfriend. Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza on Wednesday said they were looking for Tichaona Kambarami, who killed his sister Letty Kambarami (40).
According to police, on September 1 at around 10pm at Kambarami village under Chief Mangwende, Murehwa, Tichaona went to Letty’s homestead and found her with a boyfriend, Kindness Mhosva (33), of Chiweshe Village. Police said Tichaona took a wooden log intending to assault Mhosva, but he managed to escape.
“This did not go well with the deceased resulting in a misunderstanding with her brother,” said Asst Insp Mwanza. “The accused struck Letty on the head and she died on the spot.” The accused fled the scene and Fungai Kambarami from the same village made a report at Murehwa Police Station. Detectives from Murehwa Criminal Investigation Department (CID) attended the scene and found the log, but no arrest has been made. Letty’s body was taken to Murehwa Hospital mortuary for post-moterm.
