Mujuru outwitted by Zim PF elders, rebrands to National People’s Party-NNP

In a bid to save her dwindling political career, former Zimbabwe People First interim leader Joice Mujuru has given up on the party and rebranded her defector new outfit to National People’s Party (NPP).

This comes barely a few weeks of tussling with a group of founding fellow party leaders including, Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo whom she controversially sacked last month.

Former Vice President Mujuru held a press conference today to announce that she has changed the name of a political party to National People’s Party. Until recently Mujuru was fighting to remain in charge of Zimbabwe People First party.

She fired 7 senior party members for plotting against her. However, the seven, who term themselves the elders retaliated by firing her. The claimed that they were the ones who had founded the party they could not be fired.

Mujuru seems to have remained her own party in an effort to avoid confusion between the two parties, as the fired members had insisted that they were going to keep the name Zimbabwe People First.

She has been hogging the headlines for the wrong reasons this year after Jacob Mafume’s Transform Zimbabwe (TZ) has accused her party (ZimPF) of “stealing” its corporate blue and white colours and using the phrase “transformation” on its campaign T-shirts.
