Mugabe should be pushed out: AU, SADC warned

Zimbabwean opposition leader of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) MR Tendai Biti and his team have written a ten point dossier asking the African Union (AU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC)  to push Mugabe out of power.

In a letter addressed to the African heads of state and the SADC troika, PDP youth leader Moses Manyengavana said that the 92-year-old veteran politician was not longer fit to run the southern African country.

“The people of Zimbabwe are tired of suffering. The people of Zimbabwe deserve to exercise their freedoms of assembly, association and speech. The people of Zimbabwe deserve adequate social service delivery which includes access to education and healthcare…,” Manyengavana said.

Mugabe who is currently receiving medical care in Singapore has been under a lot of pressure to resign from liberation war veterans, churches and opposition groups.

The PDP party considers his advanced age and poor health as reason for him to step down.

Judging by his frequent journeys to hospitals and clinics in the far east, Mugabe is no longer capable for staying for more than a month without travelling far for medical check ups and treatments.

It was revealed last month that Mugabe now works for less than 30 minutes a day as he spends most of his time sleeping and recovering  from age related ailments.
