Mugabe Mourns Singapore President

A source in Harare told our reporters that President Robert Mugabe is expected to make a long trip to the far east to attended funeral of Singaporean Ex President S R Nathan who died on Monday at the age of 92.

We are yet to get confirmation with Harare officials about Mugabe’s trip to Singapore as the event clashes with a crucial SADC meeting in Swaziland.

President Mugabe enjoys good relations with Singapore. He often visits the country for vacation and treatment.

In 2014, Mugabes were filmed exchanging hard words with journalists as they entered  Gleneagles Parkway Cancer Centre, in Singapore(pictures below).

Meanwhile, the 92 year old’s death was confirmed by the country’s Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.

Last month, Nathan had suffered a stroke, Lee said.

The stroke was his second in recent years, with the latest having placed him in critical condition.

Nathan, who held office from 1999 to 2011, was the longest-serving president of Singapore, according to Lee. The Prime Minister described Nathan as a “warm and approachable” leader who “impressed visitors with his knowledge of world affairs, and served with dignity and distinction.”

“He was a true son of Singapore,” Lee added.

Born in July 1924, President Nathan  is just 4 months younger than Mugabe.
