OCTOBER 4, 2017. Johannesburg. Leader of the Democratic Alliance Mmusi Maimane delivered a speech at the Joburg Indaba at the Inanda Club in Johannesburg on 4 October 2017. Also present at the Indaba was Zweli Mkhize. "Maimane criticised the 2017 Reviewed Mining Charter gazetted in June, and called out the minister of mineral resources, Mosebenzi Zwane, for his close proximity to the controversial Gupta family and its businesses. The mining industry is currently challenging the implementation of the Charter at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria seeking for it to be reviewed or set aside, arguing that the Charter would be harmful to the industry and the economy because of its content, as well as the vague and contradictory language employed to convey that content."
