Renowned Zimbabwe liberation fighter and nationalist Morton Malianga has died.
He was 90.
Malianga was one of the top founding Zanu leaders who were arrested, together with party leader Ndabaningi Sithole, Leopold Takawira, Robert Mugabe, Enos Nkala, Edgar Tekere and later Eddison Zvobgo, in 1964. They spent 10 years in jail, although Zvobgo was released earlier.
Morton Malianga was brother to Washington Malianga, another founding Zanu member and nationalist, who died in 2014.
Morton Malianga reportedly succumbed to Covid-19, he previously served as Mutare West MP in the 1980s.
