Zimbabwe’s under-siege and under-fire former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is safe, sound and in good health at his Harare home, contrary to reports that he has fled.
Khuluma Afrika independently confirmed via impeccable sources that Mnangagwa spent the rest of the day yesterday and the night at his Chisipite residence.
Social Media networks were flooded with rumours that Mnangagwa had fled to South Africa late afternoon yesterday.
Khuluma Afrika was able to confirm that Mnangagwa has a pre-planned and pre-scheduled appointment with doctors at a research medical centre in Johannesburg who are treating him for poisoning side effects.
Mnangagwa consumed poisonous substances before falling ill at a rally held in Gwanda. He was air-lifted to Gweru, then Harare, before being scrambled to South Africa where he survived by a whisker.
Khuluma now understands that Mnangagwa may choose to go to his check up on the very day in question, to allow him to attend an emergency Politburo meeting slated for Wednesday.
Mnangagwa remains the second secretary of the party, and the Vice President of Zanu PF although he was fired from government.
Earlier today, Khuluma Afrika broke news that Grace Mugabe was planning demonstrations against Mnangagwa before the politburo meeting, after her desire to have votes of no confidence passed against Mnangagwa failed; gaining 4 out of 10 provinces in the bid.
Sources close to Mnangagwa confirmed via telephone that the former VP was neither unwell, nor had he fled.
“He is having a cup of tea as we speak. You can video call if you want and see for yourself. He is in Harare, safe and sound.”
It is expected that Grace Mugabe’s G40 allies will push for Mnangagwa’s ouster tomorrow.
