President Emmerson Mnangagwa is presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of Bikita Minerals Spodumene Project, in Bikita Masvingo, Province.
Speaking about the event, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Nick Mangwana said the project is expected to increase lithium output as well as the lifespan of Bikita Minerals.
Meanwhile, Spodumene is considered the most important lithium ore mineral.
Chinese firm, Sino Mine is investing US$300 million into the spodumene project, which according to Mangwana dovetails into the government’s drive towards a US$12 billion mining industry by 2023.
