Mnangagwa free to join MDC

Opposition parties  said the firing of long-time President Robert Mugabe ally Emerson Mnangagwa was a confirmation of a serious crisis in Zanu-PF, saying the fired VP was free to join them.

Zanu-PF rivals said it was time for the fired VP to repent and be a true democrat and help to bring change in the country.

Mnangagwa, who has been in government since 1980, was fired on Monday by President Mugabe for allegedly exhibiting traits of disloyalty, disrespect, deceitfulness and unreliability.

MDC-T national spokesperson Obert Gutu said Zanu-PF has always been an accident waiting to happen.

“As the MDC we are naturally pleased to see Zanu-PF crash and burn; that fascist political party has brought about untold suffering to the majority of Zimbabweans,” said Gutu.

“Mnangagwa should repent and become a true and genuine democrat.”

He added, “After he repents he is free to join us in the MDC as we peacefully fight to dislodge the insipidly corrupt and decadent Mugabe dynasty in next years’ election.”

His counterpart, Kurauone Chihwayi from the Prof Welshman Ncube-led MDC, said Mnangagwa’s dismissal was a confirmation of a serious crisis in the ruling party.

“The situation on the ground shows that ED will go with the people and this will mark the end of Mugabe’s political career, rest in peace Zanu-PF,” said Chihwayi.

Meanwhile National People’s Party President, Joice Mujuru, has said the dismissal of her former Zanu PF colleague Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, was a lesson to the former President Robert Mugabe’s deputy that the ageing leader uses divide and rule tactics.

In a statement on Monday soon after Mnangagwa’s dismissal, Mujuru said she had no beef with her former Zanu PF counterpart.

She however spoke mockingly of the man who ridiculed her in 2014 saying Mnangagwa still needs a “reflective damascene moment.”

“Mr Mnangagwa we urge you to make a reflective damascene moment and realise that the National problem is just the Gushungo Dynasty and that its time to join the opposition trenches in resolving the National problem of the Gushungo Dynasty.

“Divide and rule tactic can never be allowed to divide Zimbabweans anymore,” said Mujuru.

“We welcome  everyone who is willing to make another Zimbabwe possible for failure to unite will be no different from allowing Satan to run away with a Christian bible from a Christian pulpit  come 2018 harmonised elections,” she said.
