Norton Independent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has blasted the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for facilitating Robert Mugabe Junior’s release.

Late President Robert Mugabe’s son was arrested on allegations of malicious damage to property but the NPA sought out of court settlement for him.

“The negotiations should have been done at the Police station where the case was first reported. Now the NPA is forcing the complainant to go back and negotiate, is that what he wanted? It’s not the duty of the NPA,” said Mliswa.

He added: “Not that I want him in jail so much but this is just preferential treatment as can be accessed by those with links to certain levels of power. Once the issue had reached the courts it was supposed to be recorded and the parties involved appear before the Magistrate.”
