The Ministry of Health and Child Care has directed the removal of Purity Essential Baby Powder products from local shops.
The Ministry has also banned imports of the product.
The move has been taken for the safety of the public, said the Ministry in a statement.
The manufacturer, South Africa’s Tiger Brands, recently recalled the products after trace levels of asbestos were found in the raw materials.
