Men With Beards “Zvibaba Zvendebvu” Have More Germs Than Dogs Do In Their Fur

Men with beards “Zvibaba Zvendebvu” have more germs in their beards than dogs do in their fur, a study done in the Hirslanden Clinic in Switzerland has revealed.

The study, according Ghanacelebrities.com, compared strands of bacteria found in men’s facial hair to that taken from the fur of dogs.

The study was conducted on 18 men, an admittedly small sample, and 30 breeds of dogs and was designed to find out if men could pick up bacteria from dogs if they used the same MRI at a veterinarian.

The researchers also tested the necks of 30 dogs, with only 23 of them returning results that matched the level of bacteria in those of bearded men. 

“Our study shows that bearded men harbor a significantly higher burden of microbes and more human-pathogenic strains than dogs,” Andreas Gutzeit told the publication.

“On the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean compared with bearded men.”

There are two possible reasons behind this result: the nature of beard hairs which are typically curly and coarse, means that they are more likely to trap dirt and harbour bacteria, compared to dog fur, which can come in a variety of textures and lengths.

Secondly, as dogs are practically expected to be mucky and in need of a wash, they are cleaned more regularly and well. However, beards are rarely given the same level of attention as the hair on a man’s head…Agencies
