Meet Boss Rue- The Glitzy Entrepreneur Who Brought The First Braai Festival To Kwekwe

Upmarket Kwekwe joint, Le Vue, has brought a refreshingly new concept for the entertainment-crazy merrymakers in the Midlands mining town after it debuted the Easter Braai Festival- the first of its kind, and a rare concept in the gold-rich Midlands mining town.
And, as its name aptly implies, the festival at the Le Vue (English for ‘The View’), which falls under Gulez Gardens, culminated in scenic views with outgoing enthusiasts in the town taking their friends and families out to the elite joint for meaty interactions and jovial networking.
And, the person behind the successful hosting of the festival is none other than youthful entrepreneur and trained TV producer, the glitzy Ruvimbo Lorraine, affectionately known in showbiz circles as Boss Rue.
Speaking to this publication in a wide-ranging interview at her offices in the town Sunday afternoon, the soft-spoken Boss Rue, whose defiant pleas for local people to stop calling her boss seems to be landing on deaf ears, expressed satisfaction over the way the Kwekwe community welcomed the concept of the braai festival which is synonymous with the country’s biggest towns, notably Harare and Bulawayo.
The debut braai festival was characterised by an array of activities which made the children who attended up to their feet and these included water sliding, candy floss, jumping castle amongst others.
Boss Rue, or simply Ruvimbo as she helplessly prefers, is also a holder of a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Motion Picture Medium.
According to the Le Vue boss, the response from patrons who congregated for the first braai festival in Kwekwe town has encouraged management at her establishment to consider holding another festival this year.
“The way Kwekwe town has embraced the concept of a braai festival is quite encouraging and the Le Vue management is contemplating holding at least two braai festivals in a year,” Boss Rue said.
She also continued, saying:
“So, being Le Vue, we have always been focused on doing things differently in the town. Our birth as an entertainment joint has always been premised on being a unique establishment that does things differently. We have a set up that differentiates us from the rest of fellow players who are in the same business as ours”.
She also highlighted that they intended to make the braai festival event not only a regional, but a nationally acclaimed event.
“This was just a trial and we noticed that the first attempt was well embraced and this certainly gives us the urge to standardise the event and ensure that it does not only become popular within Kwekwe and the Midlands Province, but that it also gets national relevance.”
”We are really thankful to the community which came in huge numbers to enjoy themselves while braaing out with family and friends during Easter. The next occasion will definitely be bigger and better”, she said.
“The people really liked it and we would also wish to take this opportunity to thank Delta Beverages who played a role in the successful hosting of the inaugural Easter Braai Festival through their provision of tents and ensure that the patrons were not going to be fatigued by scorching temperatures that were predominant during the Easter holidays”
While the braai festival concept could be a new phenomenon to the Midlands town of Kwekwe, Zimbabweans have become accustomed to a handful of such events, notable among them being the Delta Beverages-sponsored Castle Lager national braai festival and Braai Out Zw.
