Man tries to use fake US$300 at N. Richards

A 42-year-old man from Runyararo West in Masvingo was arrested by Police on Friday after he tried to buy 40 bags of cement from N. Richards using fake US$300.

Nyararai Chizema allegedly tried to buy with US$300 that was fake and US$164 that was genuine.

The fake US$ were in hundred dollar denominations.

Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case and urged members of the pubic to be vigilant particularly when transactions involve bigger denominations.

N Richards Southern Region Director, Andrew Chekani also confirmed the incident to The Mirror.

The till operator noticed the fake notes and alerted security.

The accused was arrested and taken to Masvingo Central Police Station where he is detained.
