Man crushed alive by harvester, remains processed together with sugarcane

A Chipinge man from Macdom Green-Fuel Company in Chisumbanje was reportedly crushed to death by a cane harvester last Friday night after sleeping on duty.

The worker was employed at Robert Mugabe’s former business partner, Billy Rautenbach’s farm property.

Although investigations were on-going,  Mr Lovemore Mthombeni was at the time of writing said to have been crushed alive by a Cane Harvester while at work.

The man, aged 38 Years who is from the Chinyamukwakwa Village, Chief Garahwa, was employed by Rautenbach’s Macdom Green-fuel company as a harvesting clerk.

His duties were to record the number of loaded trucks and issuing receipts to the drivers at the sugarcane fields.

It is suspected that the deceased fell asleep in the sugarcane fields and was crushed together with the sugar canes and loaded into the trucks conveyed to the mill where his remains were processed together with the sugarcane.

A report was made to the police on 14 July 2018 at around 0900hrs, scene was attended by police and upon checks about 80 grams of suspected human flesh was discovered on the cane harvester belt.
