Zimbabwe Africa Champions League representative CAPS United held five time continental champions Tout Puissant Mazembe to a 1-1 draw in a CAF Champions League first leg tie played today at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Green Machine scored in the first 44 seconds of the match when Abbas Amidu’s shot made a slight deflection to go in.
TP Mazembe were level after 12 minutes when Edmore Sibanda’s mistake gifted the DRC side an easy goal.
Sibanda’s attempt to save a shot saw the ball fall into Kalaba’s path who made not mistake to score making it one all.
From there on CAPS United had to be at their best as the Congolese side went for the jugular in search of a winner but found no way past United goalkeeper and solid defence.
The 1-1 final score result will play a huge part when the two teams meet in the return match next week Sunday at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
