PHD leader and church founder Prophet Walter Magaya has been cleared by courts following the deaths of church members during a church service in Kwekwe last year.
11 people were killed in a stampede at Mbizo stadium at the end of a service conducted by Magaya.
Kwekwe based coroner Taurai Manwere, exonerated Magaya and his church as ‘this was just an an accident unavoidable since it was not reasonably foreseeable that people in the stadium would get out of the stadium at the same time’.
Exonerating the police, the coroner said from the evidence submitted in court, it is clear that no tear gas was ever used by police officers inside the stadium.
He said there was also no evidence to substantiate claims that PHD security officers ordered people to leave the stadium using small gates in order to conduct a head count of people who attended the crusade.
Magaya who is facing rape charges did not respond to calls when Zimnewsnet reporters tried to speak to get a reaction from him about his latest court victory.
