Let’s invest more in research: Gen Valerio Sibanda: As ED campaigns at Johane Masowe, donates 50 000 face masks

Zimbabwe needs to do more scientific and technical research as this is vital for national growth and the nation cannot rely on importing skills, Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda said recently.

Officiating during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and Scientific Industrial Research & Development Council (SIDRC), Gen Sibanda said investing in research and development was key for African nations in eradicating the dependency syndrome.

Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday donated a consignment of 50 000 face masks to members of the Johane Masowe weChishanu Apostolic sect in Bulawayo as part of the fight against Covid-19.

The donation was handed over by Industry and Commerce Deputy Minister Raj Modi during an event to mobilise support for Zanu PF in a build up to the 2023 harmonised elections.
