The governing party ZANU-PF says the country should take a leaf from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who recently signed a law under which cooperation with Russia could be considered as a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
According to Ukraine24, which quoted the first Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornienko, Zelenskyy signed the law to that effect.
Meanwhile, commenting on the move ZANU PF Patriots says Zimbabwe should copy that idea and criminalise the act of associating with countries that imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe.
“Its high time Zimbabwe introduces a law under which cooperation with Sanctions imposers is considered as a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison,” says ZANU PF Patriots in a tweet.
Apparently, for years, the Zimbabwean government has been complaining that some citizens were making friends with countries that imposed sanctions on Harare.
Recently they were intentions by government to make it a crime for citizens to engage foreign governments deemed to be critical to its rule.
