A Zimbabwean ranger  from Monde Village, Victoria Falls drowned last week at Lake Kariba after a boat he was in was attacked by a hippo during a routine patrol of Kariba dam area.

Madubeko Ngwenya from Vic Falls could not swim to safety as he did not have lighter clothes on his body.

His colleagues managed to leave the capsized canoe and swim to nearby trees where they were later rescued.

Ngwenya was employed by ZimParks, Matusadona.

He left behind a wife and three children.
