Breaking: ED Mnangagwa fires minister Webster Shamu, details….

Provincial Affairs minister for Mash West, Webster Shamu, has been fired from his post, while former Local Government, Public Works and National Housing secretary Vincent Hungwe is appointed as new chairperson of the Public Service Commission effective June 1.

Principal director in the Information, Media and Broadcasting Services ministry, Regis Chikowore, confirmed the developments in a brief statement, saying Shamu’s expulsion was with immediate effect.

The removal of office of Shamu comes in the wake of allegations of electoral rigging levelled against him during the just ended primary elections.

He is also accused of destabilising the party by allegedly setting up candidates to contest against President Mnangagwa’s allies; the Special Advisor to the President, Christopher Mutsvangwa, in Norton Constituency and Provincial Chairperson,  Ziyambi Ziyambi in Zvimba West Constituency.

Shamu recently humiliated Ziyambi on Independence Day.

Ziyambi Ziyambi was barred from sitting at the high table yet he was the only cabinet minister attending the celebrations at Chinhoyi Stadium.

In 2014, Shamu was fired by former president Robert Mugabe for his unholy alliance with Joice Mujuru who had also been expelled on allegations of plotting to topple the former.

He was later reappointed in October 2017.

When Mnangagwa deposed Mugabe with the help of the Zimbabwe National Army, Shamu was again accomodated as Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs.
