Zimbabwe Vice President has finally responded to allegations that he leads a war vets Lacoste Faction that is seeking to topple President Mugabe from power.
Responding to vicious allegations from war vets faction leader Mandiitawepi Chimene, Mnangagwa told reporters that he is a close associate of Mugabe and will never plan anything behind his boss’s back.
“Those false allegations will not deter me from performing my duties. Actually, it gives me strength. Are the allegations true? That is politics. People will accuse you, but you should continue with your work. People who discourage will always be there but it will give you strength,” said Mnangagwa.
During a war veterans meeting with President Mugabe this week, Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Mandi Chimene told Mugabe that Mnangagwa was leading a parallel government.
She suggested that Mnangagwa should be fired out of government during a special congress.
Mugabe responded to the issue by asking Munangagwa to come clean on the issue as he has not taken time to respond to the allegations.
