LATEST: General Bande Bus accident death toll rises

The number of people who died near Shamu village yesterday in a road accident involving a General Bande bus and a haulage truck has risen to 16 after two more people died in hospital.

National police spokesperson Asst Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development today.

FOURTEEN people died on the spot when a General Bande bus collided, head-on, with a haulage truck near Shamu village along the Harare-Mutare highway Saturday afternoon.

14 people died in a road accident near Shamu about 50 kilometres from Mutare along Harare highway. The Harare bound bus belonging to General Bande Bus Company side-swiped with a haulage truck.
