A fatal accident occurred yesterday at the Flyover at Redcliff turnoff in Kwekwe involving three vehicles.
A Delta beverages was truck involved in a head on collision with a kombi and double cab truck. Three people died on the spot while several others were seriously injured.
Sources said a speeding double cab truck rummed into the kombi coming from the opposite direction after attempting to overtake a Delta lorry at the bridge.
Another angle to the story:
Police said a driver of a Toyota Hilux attempted to overtake a kombi at a blind spot over the Redcliff flyover before ramming into a haulage truck driving in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Toyota was among the dead.
Inspector Joel Goko of Midlands police said the accident happened shortly after 8 AM.
“The driver and two other occupants of the Toyota died on the spot while another passenger was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital,” Goko said.
There were no serious injuries among the kombi drivers while the driver of the haulage truck owned by Delta Beverages also survived the crash.
