South Africa: Neighbours Zambia and Zimbabwe warriors will go up against each other for a second successive year in the final of the Cosafa Cup.
Chipolopolo of Zambia will be looking for revenge after losing out in last year’s final of the annual southern African championship.
Zimbabwe, whose five previous Cosafa Cup wins is a record, have now advanced to the final having scored just a solitary goal in open play.
That goal came in their 1-1 draw in Sunday’s quarter-final against Botswana, where they then also won 3-1 on post-match penalties.
Zimbabwe selected a strong squad for the two-week tournament as they looked to emulate their success of 2017 when they beat Zambia 3-1 in the final.
Meanwhile, warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has defended Abbas Amidu’s inclusion in the first team at the 2018 COSAFA Cup.
The 28-year-old forward has failed to make an impact at the tournament, raising questions why the coach prefers him to Tino Kadewere.
In an interview with Daily Sports Zone, Chidzambwa still regards Amidu as a good player.
“Abbas is not a bad player I think he is only going through a bad time,” Chidzambwa said.
Possible starting eleven:
Warriors XI: G. Chigova, J. Mukombwe, A. Mudimu, K. Moyo, D. Lunga, M. Munetsi, T. Kutinyu, K. Billiat, A. Amidu, T. Dzvukamanja, E. Rusike.
