The government has announced a two week lockdown in Hurungwe and Kariba after a surge in Covid-19 cases in the two districts of Mashonaland West.
According to the Chief Director in the Ministry of Health and Child Care Dr Maxwell Hove, over 40 cases have been registered in the two districts during the last three days.
He said the imposed lockdown is aimed at curbing the geographical spread of the virus by limiting movements of people in the two districts.
Apparently, the two districts have joined Kwekwe which had its lockdown extended by further two weeks.
Meanwhile, as at 11 June 2021, Zimbabwe had 39 688 confirmed cases, including 36 970 recoveries and 1629 deaths.
With a total of 691 251 people had been vaccinated against COVID-19.
