JUJU MAN FROM GOKWE? Zim serial competition winner gets Qatar World Cup ticket

GOKWE’s Luckiest Man, Clifton Mandla, Denies Using Charms To Win Prizes

A Gokwe born serial competition winner who has been winning large sums of money since 2014 has denied that he uses juju or charms after he landed yet another lucrative and highly coveted prize. 

Clifton Mandla, 38, of Mzari suburb in Chinhoyi, won big after being selected as one of only 2 Zimbabweans going on an all-expenses trip to Qatar to watch the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Mandla, together with Tafadzwa Manyonda of Chitungwiza, won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the World Cup live after winning the competition run by Cookmore and Raha Cooking Oil.

Mandla has since been nicknamed “Juju Man” for his prowess in winning competitions since 2014.   

However, despite his fantastic record, the Chinhoyi man denied using Juju or Charms. The 38-year-old insisted that he is just lucky.

Speaking to New Zimbabwe ahead of his trip to Qatar, Clifton Mandla said, 

 

“I am so delighted to be flying all the way to Qatar. This will be a memorable trip, which l am unfortunately going on my own.” 

 

The serial competition winner added, 

 

“I am just lucky and have become so popular for winning prizes almost every year since 2014. Some people have labelled me ‘juju man’ for having won so many times; actually, l have lost count of what l have won.”

 

Mandla, who comes from the Simbe area, Gokwe South, under Chief Njelele, revealed that he bought a stand and is building a house using proceeds from the numerous competitions he has won.

He works as a taxi driver and bought his vehicle using proceeds from the competitions.

What Competitions Has Clifton Mandla Won Since 2014?

 

2014

  • He won a mobile phone worth US$100 from Coca Cola
  • He also won a hamper containing groceries and cordials

2015

  • Mandla won US$5 000 cash from Delta Corporation
  • He also won a two plate full set gas stove from Madison cigarettes
  • He also won numerous cash prizes from Bakers Inn

 

2016

  • Mandla won Z$5 000 in the TM Bargain Bonanza
  • Incredibly, his son also won Z$10 000 in the same competition

 

2017

  • He won Z$10 000 in the Choppies Big Birthday Promotion
  • He also won a Flat Screen television set.

 

2018

  • He won a National Foods cash voucher.
  • He also won the grand prize of a trip to South Africa. However, he could not make the trip as he did not have a passport at the time.
  • He also won another ZW$5 000 in the Choppies Big Birthday Bonanza and a television set.

 

2021

  • He won US$150 cash from a Mortein promotion.
  • He also won Z$10 000 in a Jacobs promotion.

2022

  • Mandla won grocery vouchers worth US$250 from Castle Lager.
  • In addition, he won the grand prize of a trip to Qatar to watch the World Cup courtesy of Cookmore and Raha cooking oil.
