HARARE: Today state prosecutors withdrew charges against former Viva Zimbabwe leader, Acie Lumumba.
William Gerald Mutumanje appeared at Harare Magistrates Court and was represented by the
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Thursday morning pulled back charges against Lumumba after conceding that prosecuting him on charges of undermining authority of or insulting former President Robert Mugabe is not in the “public interest”.
In the same month he appeared in a bedroom video with a young lady, Lumumba made headlines for using a four letter word to insult former Zimbabwe strongman Mr Robert Mugabe in July, 2016.
