The MicroLoan Foundation is hosting a panel of experts to look into gender smart interventions and digital transformation for rural women in the Southern African region.

The online discussion is set for the 16th of March 2022 and seeks to engage the participants in an informative and no holds barred deliberation as the world commemorates of the International Women’s Day.

Meanwhile, a team of gender experts has been set up and will help unpack how the digital revolution can increase agency, autonomy and freedom for women in rural communities.

These experts from Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe are billed to look into and unpack deep-rooted gender biases against women, such as affordability, lack of trust and education for digital aspects that hinders digital access for women.

According to the organisers, the event is free to attend but for those who would like to make a donation is welcome, and the money will provide financial literacy and business training for women living in poverty.

Zimbabwe recently launched the National Development Strategy (NDS1:2021-2025), a blueprint which is expected to facilitate increased empowerment of women and enhance gender equality in the country.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched the five-year strategy which outlined key economic development focus areas building on the successes recorded under the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP), which had expired.

Meanwhile, MicroLoan Foundation is a women’s empowerment and poverty alleviation charity that works in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

MicroLoan provides rural women with business training, loans, and ongoing mentorship so they can open a small business and work their own way out of poverty.

Since their founding MicroLoan has helped over 280,000 women to take their first steps out of poverty.
