I hope Mnangagwa is not trying to hoodwink SA delegation- Dr Ruhanya

Lawyers demonstrated at the High Court in Harare this morning over the demeaning and lack of respect for the constitution, freedoms of expression, assembly and the media in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the High Court, as if succumbing to pressure from the lawyers, has granted ZW50 000 bail to Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume.

He has been in custody for quite some time now, following his arrest on allegations of trying to incite public disturbances.

However, political commentator, Dr Pedzisai Ruhaya says it is his hope that the bail is not a trick by the state to hoodwink the South African delegation set to visit the country soon.

“Lets hope that these bails now being granted ahead of SA delegation visit and international diplomatic and media pressures in the case of Ngarivhume are reflective of what needs to be done; return to constitutionalism.

“We hope these people are in good health. I fear for Hopewell,” he said.

Apparently, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa sent his special envoy to Zimbabwe a few weeks ago on a fact finding mission on reports diminished political environment and human rights abuses in the country.

However, his team was never given the chance to meet other stakeholders, like opposition leaders and Non Governmental Organisations, prompting the second visit.
