High Court dismisses application against UZ students’ body leaders

High Court Judge Justice Nyaradzo Munangati-Manongwa has dismissed with costs, an urgent application brought against University of Zimbabwe (UZ SRC) president Allan Chipoyi & secretary-general Munashe Masiyiwa.

The application had been filed by Elisha Gumbo &Takunda Gift Chinoda, who wanted the High Court to set aside another High Court order, which reinstated Chipoyi & Masiyiwa as SRC president and secretary-general, respectively.

Through their lawyer, Obey Shava
of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Chipoyi & Masiyiwa argued that the matter was improperly before the court & offended against the High Court rules.

Justice Munangati-Manongwa agreed with Shava’s argument & dismissed Gumbo & Chinoda’s application with costs against the duo.
