An audio clip circulated online, which many Zimbabweans claimed featured Henrietta Rushwaya, the President of the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF), responding to the Al Jazeera documentary #GOLDMAFIA, was dismissed by the ZMF.
The organisation issued a statement denouncing the audio and stating that it was meant to tarnish Rushwaya’s image and that of the organisation.
The ZMF’s constitution prohibits its leadership from participating in politics, and as an apolitical organisation, the audio should be disregarded.
The ZMF Secretariat, represented by Mr. W Takavarasha, urged the public to be guided accordingly. CCC Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere was forced to delete the audio following the ZMF’s statement.
