President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who launched Government’s National Disability and National Labour Migration Policies in Harare today, says harmful cultural practices, discrimination, marginalisation and exclusion of persons with disabilities should be brought to an end.
He pointed out that the journey towards the attainment of Vision 2030 entails that no one and no place should be left behind.
Mnangagwa added that since the advent of the 2nd Republic, certain key milestone has been realised by his Government in advancing inclusion of persons with disability.
“In line with the promise I made in 2018, my Admin is determined to develop robust and responsive policies that meet the expectations of people with disabilities.
“As we do, it is incumbent on us all of us to shift from perceiving people with disabilities as objects of charity.”
As also stated by the Ministry of Information, the National Labour Migration Policy is a product of the joint effort of Government and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with technical support from the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
