Harare Power Plant back on grid, producing electricity

Harare Power Plant is now back on the national grid producing 10MW and Hwange rose from 70MW production last week to 391MW this week.

With a 1 800MW electricity demand peak, Zimbabwe Power Company is producing 40% of the peak demand from 20% last week.

Meanwhile, Kariba Dam water level has been rising, closing the period under review at 477.68m (15.15% usable storage) on 6th March 2023, compared to 478.59m (21.58% usable storage) recorded on the same date last year.

Zimbabwe is facing electricity shortages with the utility resorting to load shedding.

The situation has been attributed to low water levels in the Lake and antiquated electricity generation equipment.
