A few weeks after Cyclone Idai killed over 344 people and displaced thousands in Chimanimani and parts of Chipinge, a hailstorm has hit some parts of Hurungwe leaving one person dead and many others displaced.
The hailstorm that happened in the evening on 17 April killed one farmer whose barn fell on him due to the wind.
According to the standard:
The deceased was identified as John Matenga of Masikati village, who had sought shelter in the barn when the violent hailstorm hit the area. A relative, David Matenga, said the deceased was buried at his rural home in Magunje on Friday.Ward Six councillor Smart Sengere said at least 23 families were left homeless in Village 22 due to heavy rain and the hailstorm.Sengere said several villagers lost their food stuff and property to the storm…The Standard
