The Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested, Peter Kazhanje (38) who was facing 19 counts of Unlawful Entry into Premises and Theft committed in and around Bindura from July 2021 to March 2022.
After his arrest, property which include 5x 32 inch television sets, a 42 inch television set, 4 laptops and 14 cellphones were recovered and he appeared before Bindura Magistrate Court and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
The ZRP warns the public against offering rides to strangers in their private vehicles.
On 19/03/22 at about 2100 hours, a Norton man (36) lost a Toyota Runx vehicle (AFE 8580), US $80, ZWL$700 and an Itel phone to robbers, after he offered a lift to two unknown suspects at Whitehouse bus stop on the pretext that they were going to Kasa Banana Compound in Norton. On reaching the intended bus stop the suspects attacked the motorist and stole his valuables.
In yet another case, on 19/03/22, Police in Madziwa arrested Simbarashe Tomu who was found in possession of 45 metres of Telone copper cables.
The suspect was brought to the Police station after he was apprehended by an alert motorist who noticed him rolling the cables near Mupfurudzi Toll gate.
