Zimbabwe Warriors need to win their next home match for the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Malawi and hope for a draw or Swaziland win in the other match.
Today Guinea came back from a goal down to win 2-1 against Malawi in a Group L qualifier match played at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.
The victory lifts Guinea from bottom spot to second place in the table, above Swaziland on goal difference.
Chiukepo Msowoya put Malawi ahead on 32 minutes but Mohamed Yattara equalised just before half-time.
And visitors Guinea pushed on in the second half, securing an excellent away victory through Idrissa Sylla’s 60th-minute goal.
Guinea are now the biggest threat to Zimbabwe following our 4 nil hammering of Swaziland in Harare yesterday.
With two games remaining, the warriors need to win against Malawi on 3 July to avoid another West Africa headache when they visit Guinea in September.
With three top teams so close on points, here is what is ahead of warriors
Zimbabwe will qualify in three months time if they beat Malawi and Guinea does not win in Swaziland. This is best scenario as Zim is very vulnerable in West Africa.
If Zimbabwe loses to Malawi in Harare, they may need to go and win it in Guinea in order qualify.
