A Gokwe man recently did the unthinkable after he murdered his uncle brother, who was his  neighbour,  on allegations that his goat had eaten sorghum in his house.

The alleged killer, Maruva Simonga from Uswahwengavi under Chief Chireya in Gokwe is reported to have butchered his uncle Jimmison Simonga on Wednesday after he accused him of leaving his goats unattended resulting in them eating his harvest.

Unedited pictures seen by zimnews publication show a covered body of Simonga with a smashed skull, deep cuts to the face and head.

According to sources, the goat issue appears not to be the cause of the main murder, but a mere spark that lit the fuse.

Midlands Police spokesperson Ethel Mukwende confirmed the death but said police are still carrying out investigations on the matter.

Murder cases are on the rise in Zimbabwe and many have attributed this to stress caused by the ever worsening economic and political situation.

There is an alarming rise in the use of firearms, axes and knives as people are taking matters into their hands to settle disputes with neighbors, families and their loved ones.
