A 13-year-old Bulawayo girl was reportedly intoxicated and raped by two suspects after the minor became stranded when she had been sent by her aunt to meet a relative she failed to locate.
Police said Saturday they have arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.
“Parents are warned against sending children to meet their relatives or strangers in areas they are not familiar with,” said the police via their official Twitter handle.
“On 27/01/23, Police in Bulawayo arrested two suspects, Obvious Moyo (38) and Amon Mpofu (32) in connection with a case of rape which occurred during the night between 26/01/23 and 27/01/23.
“The suspects took advantage of a desperate female juvenile (13), intoxicated her and took turns to rape the victim.
“The victim’s aunt had sent her to meet a relative who did not show up.”
This sexual abuse of the minor came after the shock arrest of a 35-year-old Harare man who, on different occasions, broke into homes in Harare’s Glen View and Churu Farm to rape eight minors who she threatened with a knife.
