Fugitive Anna Machaya hubby killed in hit and run accident while carrying fake ID card

There is mystery surrounding the death of Joseph Taguta, who was believed to have died in a hit-and-run accident in Mhondoro, but it has been discovered that the real victim was Evans Momberume.

Evans was the man implicated in the death of 14-year-old Anna Machaya, who died while giving birth at Mafararikwa shrine in Marange in 2021.

Evans had been in hiding and was using Taguta’s identity card.

It appears there has been a deliberate plot to mislead everyone given the sensitivity of Evans’ identity. The police have confirmed that there was a mix-up in the hit-and-run and promised to give full details.

Details:

MYSTERY surrounds the death of Joseph Taguta, who is believed to have died in a hit-and-run accident in Mhondoro, last Thursday.

Reports indicate that the real accident victim was Evans Momberume.

On Monday, relatives had indicated that the victim was Momberume’s two-year-old son, Evans.

Momberume is the man implicated in the death of 14-year-old Anna Machaya, who died while giving birth at Mafararikwa shrine in Marange, in 2021.

He appeared in court and was released on bail for statutory rape for sleeping with and impregnating Anna.

He skipped bail and was on the police’s wanted list.

Evans is believed to have been using Taguta’s identity card.

Sources said Evans had been in hiding and, after leaving his apostolic church, became a drunkard.

“Evans is the one who was hit by a car in Mhondoro, and he was drunk when he met his fate.

“He was in the company of his younger brother.

“The brother was walking him home, after he got drunk, and that’s when he was knocked down by a car and died on the spot,” said the source.

It appears there has been a deliberate plot to try and mislead everyone given the sensitivity of Evans’ identity.

H-Metro has since established that the late Anna Machaya’s child died sometime last year.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed there was a mix-up in the hit-and-run and promised to give full details today.

“Police received a report of a hit-and-run where a man aged 25 years died,” said Ass-comm Nyathi.

“Preliminary investigations have shown that the person who died had another person’s identity card and full details will be released.

“As police we would like to warn people who mislead the nation with information without correct facts that the law will catch up with them,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
