Food prices hit record high at 12.6% since March- FOA

The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) says world food prices jumped 12.6% in March to a new record high, largely driven by conflict-related export disruptions from the Russia-Ukraine war.

Zimbabwe is among countries hard hit by rapidly rising prices.

As for Zimbabwe, this has been further complicated by the weakening local currency.

The country recently announced the introduction of a ZW$100 note, the highest denomination in the market.

Critics say the introduction will be of no use, as the note is not even enough to buy a loaf of bread.
