Ex-wife torments HIV+ man

By Shakespeare Muzavazi

GWERU-A Gweru man was last week granted a peace order after he approached the courts seeking to bar his ex-wife from insulting him.
Chrispen Jinjika told Magistrate Elizabeth Magomore that ex-wife Susan Mutondoro has a habit of tracking him whenever he gets employment.

Jinjika said Mutondoro then insults claiming that he is HIV positive.

The man said due to his ex-wife’s actions, he has lost employment on a number of occasions.
“It is true that I am HIV positive and she has gone to town about that issue resulting in loss of employment. I once worked at Lucky 7 and The Barn where I sold meat in the Butchery but had to leave as I could not continue working as the stigma became unbearable.

“I pray that she does not disturb me,” said Jinjika.
In response Mutondoro said that Jinjika was trying to cover up as he was failing to pay maintenance for their one child.
“He must have heard that I approached his brother with my bank statement showing him that he was not paying maintenance for the child and he rushed to make this application,” she said.

Mutondoro said that she never insulted Jinjika since he advised her to get hold of her through his brother.

She said she was surprised to hear that the man once worked at The Barn as he has not been paying maintenance for the upkeep of the child.

Magistrate Magomore granted the peace order and warned Mutondoro not to insult her ex-husband.
