Electoral reform agenda finally set before parliament

As Zimbabwe heads for the much anticipated polls, the Electoral Amendment Bill has finally been set before parliament and is on the second reading stage.

Electoral reforms have for years been a call by various pressure groups, amid reports that the current laws favours the status quo.

Opposition parties have been lambasted for lacking the drive to force for reforms.

Critics maintain that without reforms carrying out a free and fair elections in Zimbabwe remains a pipe line dream.

Meanwhile, Citizens Coalition for Change CCC Secretary General Charlton Hwende has this to say:

“The Electoral Reform Agenda is now before Parliament and the Electoral Amendment Bill is on the second reading stage.

“We have managed for the first to have our reform issues on the order paper meaning that they will be debated and voted for in Parliament.”
