Zanu PF national chairperson Oppar Muchinguri-Kashiri has implored on the electorate in Matabeleland South Province to vote in favour of the ruling party candidates in the weekend by-elections, saying President Emmerson Mnangagwa has already fulfilled the electoral promises he made prior to the disputed 2018 elections which he controversially won.
Muchinguri-Kashiri also urged the supporters to ballot in the ruling party’s favour as a way of defending the revolution that was started by the ‘people who sacrificed for this country during the liberation struggle’.
Addressing thousands of supporters who converged at Mbalabala in Umzingwane, Muchinguri-Kashiri said:
“People sacrificed for this country during the struggle. The onus is now on you to defend the revolution. As you go to the ballot on the 26th of March, remember the sacrifices they made”.
She said Mnangagwa’s so-called Second Republic was committed towards improving the lives of its people.
“The Second Republic is committed to improving the lives of everyone. Look at Beitbridge-Masvingo road, the border and the dams we are constructing. The President has fulfilled his 2018 elections. Devolution is doing wonders.”
Echoing Muchinguri-Kashiri’s sentiments, Zanu PF Matabeleland South provincial chairman, Mangaliso Ndlovu said victory for the ruling party in the province ‘is certain’.
“We have 6 vacant seats and for the 3 that we had under ZANU PF and unfortunately lost our members, victory is certain and the other three we were gifted by the confusion in the opposition. We are going to bring them home,” he said.
