President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s latest promotion of Deputy Minister of transport and infrastructure development Advocate Fortune Chasi to a full ministerial post of Energy has left some citizens with more questions than answers.

While some sections of the society feel energetic minister Chasi was the right man to lead the ministry now faced with a myriad of challenges including Zesa and Fuel crisis, on the contrary some think the promotion was meant to expose him, while president saves the skin for his lieutenant Joram Gumbo.

The appointment comes just a few months after Adv Chasi was in hot soup from Zanu PF members on allegations of printing billboards and posters bearing his name, and face with captions: Chasi Zanu PF Presidential Candidate 2023.

Gumbo was assigned to a newly formed less demanding ministry that will only be focusing on monitoring and evaluation.

“Never say ED ain’t strategic. After the Fortune Chasi 4 President campaign what better way to ruin any aspirations Fortu has by putting him right in the centre of a big hot steaming pile of doodoo that we call the Ministry of Energy. No fuel. No ZESA. No Fortu for 2023.”
