Econet Voice Calls Now $2.28 Per Minute…Zimbos will resort to call me backs

Econet has surely taken Zimbabweans to an epoch where call me backs and beeping will be the order of the day as they have introduced a billing system that will see one paying up to $2.28 per minute on voice calls.

Accoding to Techmag, Econet now has per second billing and per minute billing.

For per second billing, subscribers will have to pay $0.038 (3.8 RTGS cents) per second which translates to a whopping RTGS$ 2.28 for every minute. If this amount is changed to USD at the interbank rate of USD 1: RTGS$ 3, it translates to USD 0.76 per minute

For per minute billing, Econet is charging RTGS$ 0.22 per minute ($0.21257). However, POTRAZ had ordered MNO’s to use per second as per minute billing was deemed unfair since customers have to pay for the full minute even if they have used only 5 seconds…Techmag
