Econet has surely taken Zimbabweans to an epoch where call me backs and beeping will be the order of the day as they have introduced a billing system that will see one paying up to $2.28 per minute on voice calls.
Accoding to Techmag, Econet now has per second billing and per minute billing.
For per second billing, subscribers will have to pay $0.038 (3.8 RTGS cents) per second which translates to a whopping RTGS$ 2.28 for every minute. If this amount is changed to USD at the interbank rate of USD 1: RTGS$ 3, it translates to USD 0.76 per minute
For per minute billing, Econet is charging RTGS$ 0.22 per minute ($0.21257). However, POTRAZ had ordered MNO’s to use per second as per minute billing was deemed unfair since customers have to pay for the full minute even if they have used only 5 seconds…Techmag
