Dry taps for Chinhoyi

Chinhoyi will have to brace for water shortages due to the breakdown of three pumps at the Hunyani raw water pump station.

The multiple breakdown was due to a pipe leakage resulting in submerged pumps thereby incapacitating the pumping system.

Tichaona Mlauzi, Municipality of Chinhoyi spokesperson has said:

“The Hunyani raw water pump station pumps water from the Hunyani River to the Spreckley kopje water purification plant, which serves the bulk of Chinhoyi residential areas . Our engineers are working flat out to repair the pumps.

“The situation is further exarcebated by the wet weather which makes drying the pumps challenging. We urge the residents of Chinhoyi to use water sparingly during this period as we attend to the problem,”
