A Wedza man recently escaped death by a whisker while two drowned after the boat they were using to cross a dam capsized in Unna dam.
Tonderai Munenzva (34), Penzura Lazarus (56) all from the same village of Fells in Wedza were travelling together to nearby Nelson shops when disaster struck.
Mashonaland East Police spokesperson for Mashonaland East, Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza said at around 1400hrs at Unna Farm, the trio who were drunk decided to go to nearby shops.
Upon approaching Unna dam, they decided to use a wooden boat to get to the other side with Penzura allegedly in control.
When they were about 50 metres from the dam shore, Tonderai demanded to take charge of the boat.
This resulted in them standing up so as to exchange positions, that is when the boat capsized.
Pascar then managed to swim to the shore, leaving his colleagues drowning.
He immediately reported the matter to the police who then dispatched the sub aqua unit team to search for the bodies of the two bodies.
