‘Drop your phone Down!’ Watch as state security agents take on Journalist Chin’ono… VIDEO

“Isai phone yenyu pasi (put your phone down),” was the first command bellowed out on award winning journalist and activist Hopewell Chin’ono as uniformed officers in the company of plainclothes suspected security agents broke into his room this Monday morning.

This emerged following an amateur video Chin’ono shot immediately before he was taken away by the state security agents from his residence in the capital today.

Monday 20 July 2020 will certainly go down memory lane as a terrible day for oppositional politics in the country following a police blitzkrieg on opposition activists who include Transform Zimbabwe leader and face of the planned July 31 protests, Jacob Ngarivhume.

Chin’ono, a rabid critic of incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his long-ruling Zanu PF Government, has been one of the leading voices in the envisaged July 31 protests against the Harare administration.

Zanu PF has been in power since the country’s independence from Britain in 1980.
