Latest Court Update: Riot Police at Mahiya hearing today

Today Harare Riot police surrounded the local Magistrates Court ahead of the court appearance of war vets spokesman, Douglas Mahiya.

Mahiya is being charged over the War Vets statement which said President Mugabe should resign from power.

The court hearing was adjourned to another date after Mahiya’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo stated that the state does not have a certificate of prosecution which has to be signed by the Zimbabwe Prosecutor General.

Riot police blocked entrance to the court where Mahiya is supposed to stand trial.

They have realised that huge crowds can send unwanted signals that may show how much support Mahiya is getting from Zimbabweans.
